Open Process Automation™ Business Guide Published

The Open Process Automation Forum (OPAF) published their Open Process Automation™ Business Guide describing the process of development and implementation of the open process automation concept. The OPAF is a consortium of members who believe in the advantages suggested by the concept and who have created this document for the end users and automation vendors. The document can be freely using the link.

Insist Avtomatika, as a member of the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA), actively participated in preparation of the document in collaboration with other partners trying to consider and explain the importance of the OPA concept, first of all, for independent system integrators.

The current state and issues of the OPA concept development were discussed, among other issues, during the recent international conference held for industrial automation and IT companies. The conference organized by ARC Advisory Group took part February 13-15 in Orlando, FL.

Kenny Warren, ExxonMobil’s vice-president of engineering delivered a presentation on the current state and prospects for the OPA concept development for the nearest months and years including:

  1. The company Lockheed Martin, general contractor who is in charge of the concept development, is responsible for the proof of concept jointly with the partners selected for this work. This stage is due for completion in March 2018.

  2. The Open Process Automation Forum (OPAF) will continue developing the OPA standards and engage new members who are interested in the Forum’s activities.

  3. The developing companies together with the end users will perform field tests of the OPA prototype using simulators and/or real facilities. In the second quarter of 2018, a meeting will be held to discuss intermediate results of the tests.
